After more than a decade of Journalism, Bilal now works in the intersection between journalism and campaigning for social change and impact.
Prior to CrowdNewsing, Bilal was based out of New York working as a Global Campaigner with Avaaz Foundation, where he was focussed on community mobilisation on campaigns like climate change, the war in Syria and the Rohingya crisis.
In New York, Bilal also volunteered with the Bernie Sanders election campaign observing closely the role of crowdfunding in politics.
As a journalist, Bilal has led newsrooms working with organisations like NDTV, NewsX, Times Now, WION among others. He considers his interview with Mr Narendra Modi in 2011 and ground reports from Syria in 2012 as the key moments of his journalistic career.
Besides CrowdNewsing, he is also a co-organiser of the #NotInNyName movement and founder of Centre for Art and Free Expression, in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi
